Gestalt Principles

Image
Proximity    Similarity  Closure  Continuation  Figure and ground  Proximity, the state or relationship of being close to each other.I chose to execute this gestalt principle with the use of letters U and A.Since I wanted a pattern to repeat, I created a design where two U’s upon their serif are stuck together and are placed in a vertical fashion.I had a similar idea with the A, however I placed it between the spaces to create more of a contrast while also demonstrating proximity.Despite this principle being quite simple, their is still a high chance of fault or not presenting the idea as some people might mistake it for others. Similarity, the state or relationship where all have can a resemblance to each other but one or more will still have a distinct difference.I chose to execute this gestalt principle with the use of letters W,V and X.All of these letters have a similar stroke or serif, to take advantage of this detail I place two towers of V an...

Block Set Type

Image
During the introduction of Indesign, I noticed that it incorporates necessary tools to create type. Therefore I quickly realize that this adobe application is the  best choice as to  designing and publishing multipage documents containing text, vector artwork, and images.  When executing the block-set type, I  experienced positives and negatives. For instance, the type tool was easy to figure out as it guides you through its ability to lock on.In addition,Indesign operates with a diverse array of fonts, making my task of selecting fonts trouble-free.However I did encounter some complications regarding the adjustment of the vertical spacing. Also known as leading, as a response to my struggles, I used the rectangle tool to measure the vertical spaces between the words and placed them between each word.If it lined up equally then the spacing will as well be congruent.Overall, Indesign has been...

3 letters + Word

Image
The assignment consisted of 3 letters and a word differing from their classification or font. These letters establish the use of negative and positive space through their actions upon the box. The letters are an uppercase Z, a lowercase r and u however their appearance are vastly influenced from their classification. For instance the Z is drawn using the Slab Serif Rockwell , originated in 1850.When viewing from ones blind eye, it seems austere as no exaggeration is expressed throughout the font. Some characteristics include the use of moderate contrast,. no brackets and slab serif. Therefore in order to develop a strong relationship between the letter Z and the box I planted it right in the middle, developing the letter to be a bold statement instead of a vague one. Afterwards I established the letter u with the exact opposite from Z's classification. Known as Transitional Baskerville ,est:1750, it consist of a higher contrast in stroke weight and sculpted serif with bracket....

The assignment consisted of 3 letters differing from their classification or font. These letters establish the use of negative and positive space through their actions upon the box. The letters are an uppercase V, a lowercase d and however their appearance are vastly influenced from their classification. For instance the V is drawn using the Sans Serif Helvetica, originated in 1957.When viewing from ones blind eye, it seems austere as no exaggeration is expressed throughout the font. Some characteristics include the use of no contrast and a lack of serif. Therefore in order to develop a strong relationship between the letter V and the box I planted it right in the middle, developing the letter to be a bold statement instead of a vague one. Afterwards I established the letter d with the exact opposite from V's classification. Known as Old style Garamond, it consist of a low contrast, being heavily bracketed, having a course serif, and including a humanistic proportion. In ord...
